We did it – Lucy and I moved across the country from Seattle to Austin! I was worried about how Lucy would handle leaving her home, being homeless vagabonds for a week, and then staying with my dad until we found a place to live but she did great and seems to love the warm weather.
Here is an album of our journey:
Lucy’s crate in the car. I had her right behind the driver’s seat so I could easily let her out and give her water when we stopped.
I got Lucy the TAGG doggie GPS system. It has a transmitter that clips on to her collar.
This is what the TAGG iPhone app looks like – Lucy is in Utah!
Our first stop: Dick and Jane’s in Ellensburg.
At Dick and Jane’s
Lucy found some friends at my aunt’s house.
Lucy loved getting out and about at Arches National Park in Moab, UT
Lucy in a hotel room. I was so nervous she’d bark and disturb the neighbors but she was great except for a few times on the last day.
We went gallery hopping in Santa Fe
Lucy had many admirers in Santa Fe.
Lucy was well behaved in the galleries. Only one gallery owner was snotty about her being there – most loved her and one even went out of her way to get her a bowl of water.
Lucy drank out of a fountain and got all wet
This was Lucy and my favorite piece on our art walk in Santa Fe.
Lucy didn’t like having to hide under the table at the chi-chi restaurant.
I picked our hotel in Santa Fe based on this great dog park they had out back.
Yay! Finally in Texas!

Lucy with her friend Allie (my dad’s dog)
Lucy got right in the water at my dad’s pool – she has never been much of a swimmer but given the heat, she loved it.
Her favorite spot.
At Bull Creek in Austin – she got giardia – oops.
Lucy inspects our new back yard for the first time
Lucy hanging out in the front yard while we unload the moving containers (she was no help)
This is Lucy’s favorite spot at home. She will just relax in the grass all day and all night if I let her.
Lucy loved climbing Mt. Bonnell
